The Fire Safety Office has started an initiative to secure the Fire Department Connections, or FDC, from vandalism and impacts that would prevent the FDC’s from working as designed. The FDC’s provide water to the sprinkler system via the fire apparatus in the event of water failure from the sprinkler systems main water supply. The Knox Corporation has made locking FDC caps; these caps prevent tampering from persons wanting to do damage to our campus (pictured below). The fire safety office has made it a priority to get all properties on Georgia Tech equipped with these caps in an effort to ensure a sufficient fire response for buildings across campus and protect the Georgia Tech community.
