Chematix is the chemical inventory software used by Georgia Tech to manage all chemicals in labs and shops on campus. Chematix became Georgia Tech’s official instrument for chemical management in 2005 and is in compliance with the Georgia Public Employees Hazardous Chemical Protection and Right to Know Law (RTK).

Faculty and Staff are responsible for keeping their chemical inventory records up to date.  Each lab or work space is required to have a bi-annual chemical inventory reconciliation. Items required to be in Chematix are:
  • Gas Cylinders
  • Solvents
  • Chemical samples
  • Stock bottles of chemicals
  • Chemicals
  • Cleaning supplies such as Bleach, Pine-sol, Windex, etc.
  • Chemicals in maintenance shops
Items not required to be in Chematix are:

  • Lab supplies
  • Mixtures made up from chemicals already in the lab inventory (especially working solutions for work in progress)
  • Petri dishes of agar awaiting use
